Keeping your body fit and healthy seems to have become increasingly important in modern times. As obesity and illnesses related to unhealthy and sedentary lifestyles rise all over the world, it has never been more apparent that keeping your body fit is a crucial activity that we should all engage in.
Eating the Right Foods
Your diet plays an extremely important role in keeping fit. Doing even simple things like drinking enough water to stay hydrated, ensuring you eat sufficient protein to support muscle development and consuming the right amounts of healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates is vital in supporting a fit and healthy body. Anti-oxidant rich fruits like blueberries and pomegranates are great for flushing out toxins and waste so having early morning smoothies is a great way to start the day. Another fantastic breakfast option is porridge as oats help in heart functioning and protection. Eat lean meats such as chicken and turkey instead of fattier cuts of beef and pork to instantly reduce cholesterol and saturated fat. Choose healthy options for snacking like nuts, seeds, fruit, granola, yoghurts or even popcorn to limit sugar intake.
On the more active side of keeping fit, exercise is an obvious and highly effective way of getting and maintaining a fit and healthy body. While gym memberships and exercise classes are great, they are often too big a commitment for busy people to make. Alternatively there is a huge abundance of exercise DVDs available on the market that are geared toward home use for the working professional or busy mum. There is also an array of very simple and effective exercises that can be done regularly without much expense or hassle if you invest in some portable equipment like weights, exercise balls, yoga mats, skipping ropes and mini-trampolines. Walking is also an easy way to get fitter and is a lot more enjoyable than running on a treadmill every day.
